About the speakers

Charles J. Fombrun is the Founder and Executive Director of the Reputation Institute, a private research organization dedicated to advancing knowledge about corporate reputations. He is also Professor Emeritus at the Stern School of Business of New York University where he has been on the faculty since 1984. Dr. Fombrun's work is synonymous with path-breaking developments in measurement, analysis, and management of corporate reputation, and has stimulated a deeper appreciation of the role that intangible assets play in strategic competitiveness. He is the author of the best-selling Reputation: Realizing Value from the Corporate Image (Harvard Business School Press, 1996), and released his follow-up book with Cees van Riel in 2003, Fame and Fortune: How the World's Top Companies Build Winning Reputations (Pearson Publishing). Professor Fombrun earned a B.S. in Physics from Queen's University (Canada) in 1974, and completed his Ph.D. in 1980 at Columbia University. He was the youngest member of the standing faculty of The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and has since written over 100 articles for leading research and professional journals. He is a frequent speaker, contributor, and organizer of international forums on current management topics. He serves on numerous editorial boards and is currently co-editor-in-chief of the Corporate Reputation Review, a quarterly journal that he founded with Cees van Riel of Erasmus University in 1997 that is devoted to research, measurement, and valuation of corporate reputations. |

Cees B.M. van Riel is a professor at the Rotterdam
School of Management of the Erasmus University in The Netherlands. He is co-founder
and Editor-in-Chief of the Corporate Reputation Review, and managing director
of the Reputation Institute. He initiated the first Executive Master of Corporate
Degree Program in the world in 1998. Cees van Riel published Communication
Corporativa (Prentice Hall, 1997) and is author of many other English and Dutch
books and articles (published in Management Communication Quarterly, Academy of
Management Journal, Business & Society, Corporate Reputation Review, Long
Range Planning and the European Journal of Marketing) about corporate branding,
identity and reputation management. |

Oliver Freedman is Research Director at Harris
Interactive. Oliver worked for Harris Interactive in New York from 1999
to 2001. From 1997 to 1999, he worked in market research for Harris
Global Network Member in Sydney, Australia (AMR Interactive). Olivers
market research experience includes traditional and Internet research design,
analysis, reporting, and overall management of data collection. He has expertise
in quantitative research techniques including multivariate analysis. His main
focus while in the New York office was on analysing results and writing reports
for the many and varied Reputation Quotient (RQ) studies. In August 2001,
Oliver returned to Sydney where he continues to work with Harris Interactive NY
on international RQ studies, with Harris Interactive Japan on studies in the Asia
Pacific region, and with Harris Interactives Global Network Members on major
research initiatives. Oliver holds an M.S. (Organizational Psychology) and
a B.S. (Psychology) from University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. |

Mark Weiner is Executive Vice President - Delahaye Medialink Communications Research, who oversees an international firm which provides a variety of media analysis and survey research services, all tailored to meet the special requirements of professional communicators. He has planned and executed hundreds of research projects since entering the field in 1986, three of which earned CIPRA and PR Week awards. He was previously Senior Vice President and co-founder of Copernicus, a marketing investment strategy group, where he headed the firm's Integrated Marketing Communications Analysis practice. For eight years, Mark was the Managing Partner of PR Data, a company specializing in the content analysis of news coverage. Before public relations, Weiner was an editor and syndicated newspaper columnist with the McNaught Newspaper Syndicate after starting his career with the New York Times News Service. |

Kasper Ulf Nielsen is Partner in InterPlay, a Danish consulting company focusing on Reputation Management and Organizational Psychology. InterPlay is the key driver in the development of Reputation Institute (RI) in Scandinavia, and Kasper manages the Research Institutes Annual RQ project in Denmark as well as custom reputation projects for leading Nordic companies. Kasper holds an MSc in Intercultural Management and Communications from Copenhagen Business School. He is co-author with Majken Schultz and Peter Mejlby of Introduction to Organizational Theory and has also published articles in Corporate Reputation Review. Kasper is a frequent guest lecturer at Copenhagen Business School. |

Nicolas G. Trad is Partner in InterPlay, a Danish consulting company focusing on Reputation Management and Organizational Psychology. InterPlay is the key driver in the development of Reputation Institute (RI) in Scandinavia, and Nicolas manages the Research Institute’s Annual RQ projects in Norway and Sweden. Nicolas directs the Organizational Psychology department of InterPlay that focuses on in-depth analysis and development of employees and managers. Nicolas has a Master’s degree in Intercultural Management and Communications from Copenhagen Business School, and has published articles on workplace environment in different publications in Denmark. Nicolas regularly lectures at the Danish Institute for Workplace Environment. |

Wesley Hill is a Director at AMR Interactive in Sydney, Australia. Wesley has been actively involved in the development of marketing and communications strategies for a wide range of blue chip clients. Wesley has both qualitative and quantitative skills that he gained while working for various advertising and research companies. At AMR Interactive, Wesley specializes in the management of large-scale projects and has been actively involved in RQ projects with clients and strategic assessment of advertising programs. He is the co-author of various articles, and most recently presented a study of RQ research done at National Australia Bank to the ESOMAR conference. |

Charles Proudfoot Completed a B.A. degree at the University of Natal before going to serve articles at the law firm of Webber Wentzel and complete his LL.B at the University of Witwatersrand. As a founding partner, he played a leading role in the formation of the South African-based MAST Organisation. During a five-year career with this pre-eminent training and skills development group he established and headed up an off-shore MAST subsidiary in Houston, Texas. Charles joined the Micro & Peripherals Distribution group (M&PD) to form Lasernet, a specialist value-add networking distributor. In 1988, after M&PD was incorporated into the JSE-listed Siltek Holdings, he was appointed managing director of Tecnetics. In 1994 he was appointed general manager of Apple Computers sub-Saharan operations and tasked with establishing the companys post-independence entry into South Africa. In 1999 he was recruited as managing director of Wang Global in South Africa. In this role he successfully integrated Wang Global operations into the Dutch-based Multinational, Getronics NV, following one of the biggest acquisitions of its type. Charles played a leading role in the successful integration of Getronics SA into CS Holdings after the group acquired the local multinational subsidiary. Charles is a founding director of the Reputation Institute (South Africa). |
